Review: Why your boss isn't worried about AI
Article: Why your boss isn’t worried about AI.
This is a great article, and I agree with the opinion that AI systems works completely differently than the regular software we’re used to.
However, the reliability of regular software is just in theory. In reality, a regular software can be so complex that a bug cannot be fixed, or takes so long to fix that it is not financially viable.
So from a user’s perspective, regular software isn’t very different from an AI system: they both seem opaque, they both suffer from persistent bugs that seem impossible to fix, and may come back after being fixed.
We can’t revert to a time when AI didn’t exist. AI systems have proven their value. So accept it, and find a way to engineer it.
